I’m John Rossignol, photographer and owner of Lift Your Eyes Photography. Publications like National Geographic, Life, and Time Magazine, drew my attention early in my childhood with their spectacular images from America’s cities and hometowns as well as around the globe. My first memories of cameras were of my grandfather’s single lens reflex camera, followed by my very own Polaroid camera. I can still smell the fixer stick that was rolled across the print to keep it from fading. I loved photographing family and friends when I could afford the film from by part time jobs.
I received my first 35 mm camera as a gift for my college graduation. My love for photography grew to a new level and I began developing my own slides and printing color prints. As a sailing enthusiast I started shooting sail boat races and selling prints to the boat owners. I moved to Florida where there was more opportunity for sailing photography. I was introduced to the idea of shooting from helicopters and small planes and was soon shooting aerial views for businesses, home owners and real estate developers as well as sailing events. I grew my business to a point where I was able to sell it for a handsome profit as digital imaging was coming on the scene.Recently married, my new wife, an artist and designer, and I moved back to Ohio where I returned to college for some master’s level courses in photography.
Over the next couple of decades I shot weddings, special events, headshots, portraits, home and business interiors, music concerts, and just about anything that a client wanted and was willing to pay for. In addition I continually looked for artistic opportunities in landscapes, seascapes, and aerials for display as fine art in homes and offices. . In 2018 we sold our house, bought a motor home and hit the road to tour the USA and continue our artistic photography journey creating stunning images to adorn the walls of homes and offices of those who have an appreciation for fine photography.
